On Tuesdays, during our Food Pantry and Community Kitchen hours, RCS offers these additional programs.
Social Service Outreach
During Tuesday operations, RCS offers the assistance of social work professionals who help our neighbors with access to public benefits, housing resources, and jobs. This team has helped neighbors secure employment, replace lost identification, access SNAP and other benefits, and find housing. The social service outreach desk sees a steady stream of visitors with questions big and small every Tuesday evening. They are located in the Dining Hall (entrance at 1757 W. Wilson Ave.) from 5-6:30pm on Tuesday evenings.
Ask a Nurse
During each Tuesday’s operations, RCS volunteers operate a clinic staffed by volunteer nurses and nursing students from the DePaul University School of Nursing and the Steans Center for Community-Based Service Learning. Much of the work in the nursing clinic involves simple screenings and referrals, as well as foot care. Beyond the very important practical services that the nurses provide, they also provide a caring, listening ear – an invaluable service.
